GUNDOG GROUP TRAINING
we can offer you various group gundog training sessions at our venue near the village of Perry Green just outside Wembon in Somerset. These training sessions offer options to suit you and your dog’s or puppies needs.
They aim to give you and your dog the skills to equip you for your life together and to deal with the different challenges that may present themselves. Once you have a positive learning history, confidence and a good bond, then you can face all sorts, that may include group activities or sports with your pet. Current gundog training courses being offered are:
Group training sessions will be held between March and November. New dates will be released shortly.
Grass Roots Gundogs
Grass Roots Gundogs courses are aimed and those handlers that are new to gundog training and dogs that are young and or inexperienced. The course will run beyond its initial four training sessions and will give you the opportunity to begin to work whistle cues, recall, directions, foundations of retrieve and for spaniels a little hunting, loose lead walking to name just a few elements. This level is suitable for those working towards their Gundog Club, grade one assessment. Each training session with run for 90 minutes

Beginner Gundogs
These courses are aimed at those handlers and dogs that are slightly older or more experienced. Our aim will be to further develop the retrieve including hand delivery and memories, on and off lead heel work, steadiness, focus, whistle stops along with many other elements. This course is suitable for those working towards their grade two Gundog Club assessments and is designed to run beyond the initial course.

Intermediate Gundogs
This course is constructed for those dogs and handlers who are much more accomplished and have their foundation skills firmly in place. Where numbers allow courses will be spit into breed types. A variety of aspects of training will be build on during this course, distractions, multi dummy retrieves, honouring, shot and distance, to name just a few. As exercises are more complex training sessions last an hour and a half and are suited to dogs looking to achieve their Gundog Club Grade three and above.

STROLL & TRAIN
The “stroll and train” is a group training session. We walk and train as we travel through Great Wood. There will be a variety of gundog related retrieves and challenges set for you. Each exercise can be adapted to the needs of your dog. The session is designed to be fun whilst challenging both you and your dog.. After the Stroll and Train we will reconvene at the Fox Bean Café for Lunch, this is not included in the charge for the session. Sign up for as many or as few of these sessions as you choose

Hunters workshops
Following the success of the first series of gundog workshops with visiting trainer Georgia Selby, from Trails for Tails, we are pleased to offer another weekend of workshops on the22nd and 23rd of April 2023. Further details will be released in due course.
